You can tell how far behind I am seeing as the royal couple will be celebrating their 2 year anniversary in a couple of months! Ooops!
First off I want to say that I did not go to the royal wedding and that these are not my pictures. My hubby and I got up at 4 am to watch the happy couple get married on television. For us, it was one of those moments in time you would look back on and say I remember that! My hubby and I were just in the early stages of dating when Princess Diana tragically passed away and to this day we still remember that day well. So when we were watching the wedding we thought this will be another one of those moments in time that we will look back on and remember (hence why we got up so early to watch it!). And because of that I wanted to do a layout about it. Of course, at 4 am my mind was still half asleep and I never thought to take any pictures of us watching the wedding on TV in our PJs! So instead, I went the wonderful world wide web and Googled the wedding and found some pictures I really liked. I sent them off to the printer and viola ... I had something to scrapbook!
Have any of you ever done something like that? Or scrapbooked important events that maybe you weren't there for but thought the were impactful in some way?
As I was scrapbooking these photos I found myself wondering if Kate would be scrapbooking them too. If so I would love to see what she had done!

Vanessa & Lance
One wouldn't think finding blue flowers would be difficult but really it is! There are so many shades of blue which makes matching difficult. I wanted flowers for this layout but had nothing that worked. It's hard to believe with my stash but it is true. So I worked with what I had. The blue polka dot one I made with ribbon and a glubber and used a silver sparkle brad that I coloured dark blue alcohol ink. The suede flower had a bright blue jewel that didn't go so I took out my stickles and covered it up with silver stickles. And the last flower was a bright blue resin flower that didn't work so I took out a Navy Copic marker and coloured it.

Family Hang Time
There's a new auction site called Top Hatter and I took a try at it. I don't normally like auction sites because I just get so wrapped up in all that I loose all senseability! So ... that being known I don't normally surf these sites but they gave me acredit for signing up so I thought I would give it a try. I saw these Vintage bottle caps and decided I needed them. So I bid and won ... yeah me! I now have 50 Vintage bottle caps ... woozers! Not sure what I will do with them all but I did manage to use one on this layout!

Val and Shane's Wedding
A while ago, my neighbour approached me about making a wedding album for him to give his wife for their 5th wedding anniversary. They both have been over and seen someof my album and they both "love my mad scrapbooking skills" (hahaha) and he thought she would love their wedding album done. So how could I say no after so many compliments! Once again, I used supplies I already had in my stash so it was a great stash buster and the bonus is the money he has given me to cover my costs gets to go towards new stuff!!! Sneaky I know but would non-scrapbookers really be able to tell the difference between product release this year and a couple of years ago? I didn't think so either! So here's a couple of pages I completed for their album.

Beach Explorers
I saw these Post-It notes at Chapters and just had to have them! They make a perfect journalling spot don't they! And because they are a Post-It note, they come sticky back so no adhesive required! They has different kinds so I might have to go back and pick up some more.

Rum Tour
As part of the YS tour, you got to visit the Appleton Rum Estate. Now neither Steve nor I are huge rum drinkers but for someone who is they would probably think they had died and gone to heaven here. You were free to sample as much of different kinds of rums they make. Who knew there were so many different kinds! So because this layout was kind of about alcohol I thought the Social Club collection from Cosmo Cricket would be a perfect match. Good thing I hoarded it for all this time!
So the Social Club sticker sheet has these cute little journalling spots but I had such a hard time with them because they had a glossy finish (like most stickers have) which made my marker pool and smudge. for someone who is particular about things being consistent this drove me nuts. I used my usual Zig pen for the journalling but I am wondering if there is something better out there for this type of material? I thought about using my Copic marker but the tips are too big for fine writing. Have you run into this problem and if so how do you get around it?

You Make Life Blissful
For our anniversary this year I told my hubby that I wanted us to have our pictures taken seeing as we hadn't had any nice ones taken since our wedding 11 years ago. He granted my request being the sweety that he is and I got some new photos to frame and scrapbook. These were actually taken at my work which from certain angles made for a beautiful backdrop!
I thought this paper line worked beautifully with the photos.

He's An Outlaw Now
I remember when Stickles were the hottest thing and I think I had bought them in every color! I used to use them on almost every layout but for the last couple of years they have sat on my shelf collecting dust. I couldn't bring myself to get rid of them because I might use them some day. Do you find you do that with supplies? Well for this layout I decided to break them out again. I wanted the yellow letters to look like they were wet so I applied some Distress Rock Candy to each of them. And like most things, I couldn't stop there so I added a bit to the edge of the journalling spot. It just gave things a little bit more umph.

Fright Night
I had a really tough time with these photos! They were all really dark and most of them were blurry. But it was a fun night and I still wanted to scrap them. Most Halloween collections have a lot of black in them which really didn't help the photos. Then I remembered this collection by Cosmo Cricket that my friend had given to me after she had used what she wanted ... I love leftovers! It was perfect because it wasn't dominantly black! I think the strong oranges and greens helped to contrast the crummy photos so that I could scrap them and not look at the layout and be disappointed.

Time Flies
Happy 4th of July to all my American friends out there in blog land! Hope your day is filled with lots of fun, family, sunshine, and great memories!
I must of walked by this line a hundred times thinking I would never use it. It's Basic Grey's Life of the Party. I always seem to avoid Birthday lines. I'm not sure why? It's probably because I don't have kids so birthday parties are not a huge scrapbooking thing for me and for our birthdays my husband and I keep it pretty low key so that means there are rarely any photos. As I was saying, I pretty much skipped this over because it was a birthday line since it came out. Then the other day I was at my local scrapbook store looking for paper for these photos. Yes I did look in my stash first but I couldn't find anything ... or maybe I didn't want to find anything and was looking for an excuse to shop ... who knows! When I walked by this line the plaid paper caught my attention as the colors were perfect. When I flipped it over I found it had a wood grain on the back. Wait a minute! I look at a couple of others and found they were wood grain too! Next thing I knew I pulling a bunch of it off the shelf to do this layout (and maybe a couple more). It seems that lately if it has wood grain, I will love it! Seems odd, but I think it is because I have a lot of camping photos I need to do. I also find it easy to work with for both masculine and feminine layouts! So once again Basic Grey has made a line that at first I had no need for and now I must own it! They do that a lot to me!

Saturno Caves
I love this layout but I have to admit, it's design is not mine. I am a huge believer in scraplifting (the copying of another scrapbooker's layout) when I hit a design road block. This layout was copied from a good friend of mine Haley. She always uses products in the way I hadn't thought of. In this one she used a full 12x12 sheet of patterned paper in the middle of 2 pieces of plain white cardstock, which was something I had never done before. You can see her layout here, which I think is still way better than mine and isn't that son of hers the cutest! Have you tried scraplifting? Give it a try ... you never know when you will learn something new to get your creative juices flowing!

At the "Cho"
Have you ever had an idea in mind when you started a layout thinking it would turn out awesome? Well that was the case with this layout but it ended up being an epic fail! I'm not sure why I feel that way but when I look at this layout there is just something wrong. I'm thinking it might be the patterned paper or the glittery title. In the spirit of being a rounded blogger, I thought I would post this, even though I really don't like it, so that everyone can see that we all have layouts that don't turn out. I would love nothing more than to rip this one apart and start again but really who has the time for that. So here it is, done, even though I am not loving it.

On the Farm
Isn't this layout so much fun!?! I did it as part of a scraplift challenge going on over at Club CK. The point to the challenge was to find a layout you like and then copy it. I copied Laura Vegas's Christmas 2007 layout, which can be found here. To put my own twist on it I created the green border you see on the left page; it's a box pleat made of paper!

Cool New Product
My friend Susan got me hooked on this new product (at least new to me) called Liquid Applique from Close To My Heart.
Why am I addicted you ask? It's simple really. It is so much fun to play with and you can make some really cool effects with it. First you trace or fill in a shape in with the Liquid Applique, then you heat it from underneath with a heat gun until it puffs up. It only comes in white but I have already used it for clouds, marshmellows, and snowflakes. In fact I am already on my second tube :) Here's some layouts where I used it and if you get a chance to play with it I highly recommend it!

Water Dog?
This is the sketch I have decided to use for the Pictures I took of Angus the first time he played in the water. I love how the background looks like waves.

I also took this opportunity to play with one of my new favorite paper lines - Snorkel by Cosmo Cricket. I modified the sketch as I needed it to be a 2 page layout. I love how it turned out so much that I think I might just submit it to Cosmo Cricket for their use. We'll see.
