From Tim

Back in December I won a stampset by commenting on one of Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of Christmas blog posts. I have been a big fan of his for sometime so when I won I was quite excited to say the least. When the package came I kept it because it had his signature on it. I know, I know, it sounds a little stockerish. So I decided to make a layout about winning the prize and here it is. I sent a photo of it to Tim and being such a nice guy he replied back saying he really liked it and was flattered that he was the subject of one of my scrapbook pages. How sweet is that?!

National Scrapbook Day

Just over a month ago it was National Scrapbook Day and I went to a crop with my sister-in-law. We had a blast and got a lot accomplished. I wanted to scrapbook this picture so I created a pretty basic layout and then to add some pizzazz I made the flower. The flower was pretty simple to make. I took several coffee filters and ran through 5 at a time cutting different size flowers using my Nestability dies and my Cuttlebug. After I had enough cut out, I stacked them together (top being the smallest and bottom being the largest) and then poked a hole in the middle of all of them and stuck a brad trough it to hold them secure. I then started fluffing and scrunching up all the edges of each flower and then once I had the look I wanted I covered it all in Glimmer Mist.

Graffitied

I love where I work. Why you ask? Because even though we are serious about what we do, we still find the time to have a good time. I'll admit I'm a prankster and have partook in several practical jokes around the office. The one practical joke in this layout, I was not part of, I was the victim! After I returned home from Thailand, I came back to work to an office that had been covered in spray paint. My office had been graffitied! They definitely got me on this one but don't worry, I'm planning my sweet revenge!

Are you like me? Do everything on your layout except you journalling? I normally let my projects pile up until the pile is about to fall over, then I go to my computer and type up the journalling for all of them at once. It works for the most part as I am not a huge fan of my handwriting and using the computer gives you so many options for font , colour, sizing, etc. But last night I was getting frustrate with all the layouts I have done on my desk that are not completed. So I bit the bullet and I just hand wrote my journalling and I must admit that even though I still don't like my handwriting, I like that they are done.

Got Ya!

This layout is about a practical joke we played on the accounting department on April Fools day. We filled all their cubicles with ballons. It was so much fun and colourful to boot! I could resist taking pictures! The colours in Basic Grey's Lime Rickey Collection was perfect for this layout and I was so excited to get to use it seeing as I bought it quite awhile ago.

Frustrated With My Camera

I must say that these days, my camera is not my best friend. No matter what I do my pictures are not turning out right. Most of the time they are blurr or grainy and it is driving me nuts! I don't remember my camera having these issues before ... did I mess up something with the settings? I think it might be time to start looking for a new best friend, the only problem is I don't know what I want in a camera these days. I like the convience of point and shoot but those big fancy cameras with the different lens look so cool!

It's Almost Like Being Published

So earlier this week I sent one of my layouts, Graffitied, to the company that makes the paper I used. Cosmo Criket is one of my favorite lines and I think I own almost everything they've manufactured :) Anyways, they emailed me back telling me they loved it and asked if they put it in their Ideas Gallery on their website (http://www.cosmocricket.com/galleryitem.cfm?galleryitemoid=756&galleryitemname=Graffitied&author=Jennifer Wolfe). Of course I said yes! So there you have it ... it's almost like being published. Now if only I could get them to spell my name right :)

Sweet Memories

I had a vision for this layout but it took me quite awhile to complete as I had to redo it three times before I got it right. I wanted the gingerbread house to look perfect but everytime I did something I would mess it up or I wouldn't like the end effect. Needless to say I am glad it finally worked out and I think it looks awesome.

Cool Picture Editing Software

I came across this really cool picture editing software that allows you apply all kinds of neat effects to pictures. You can use it for free by going to http://www.befunky.com/create. You upload a photo, play with the different effects and then save it. Pretty simple eh?! They put a little watermark in the bottom corner that you can easily crop out or you can pay the membership fee and they won't put it on there. Here's an example that I did using a photo of Steve in Vulcan from when we went to go meet Mr. Spock, I used the cartoonizer. Go try it out ... it's a lot of fun!

Fight Fair

A fun layout for fun pictures. Jamey and I love to bug each other, not sure why, we just do. Catherine actually got this battle on film, an innocent after dinner clean up soon turned into a full out water fight.

Proud Auntie

I love how this layout turned out. I used some scraps from my huge pile, which always is awesome! I decided I wanted to do the stitching down the sides of the layout and I love how it turned out but it sure was a lot of work! Hand stitching always looks great but it is very intensive.

So Handsome

This layout was a lot of fun but the main background paper was the biggest pain. This paper has a glossy finish to the circles which makes it almost impossible to glue anything onto. I found a trick though, glosy accents works great!

Russian Candy

This layout was all about the candy! I was at a local farmers market and found a little Russian Woman who was selling Russian candy, so I bought some for Oksana. Now to find anything scrapbook related that is Russian is next to impossible. So I had to use my Cricut Design Studio to fabricate the title. Turned out pretty good I think.

Welcome Baby

A new baby is always an awesome reason to break out the camera. I couldn't resist taking pictures of my cute new nephew. The Love photo I created in photoshop using a photo of Landon's feet. Isn't it the cutest!

Spring Cleaning

Well the weather this weekend was the pits so I decided I would do some spring cleaning in my scrapbook room. I needed a change of scenary so I reorganized all my cubies into a new configuration that gives me more surface to store things on top of, giving me more room on my desk. I love how it turned out!

I also recently did some reorganization of the some things that were driving me nuts.

  1. I bought a clip it up system to hang my favorite go to items that I use often.
  2. I decorated some boxes to put my titles I bought and my scraps which I cut to photo mat size in. The photo mat idea is an awesome way to use scraps. Whenever I have leftover paper scraps from a project I cut it into one of two size (4X6 or 4.5X6.5) which I can use on cards or another layout. It's an awesome idea and I find I am using more of my scraps now.
  3. A Huge glass that I throw all my loose out of package embelishments in.

Endless Flight

Another photoless layout I did with journalling about our what seemed to be the endless flight home.  The title I created by running a piece of fun foam through my CuttleBug.  I really like how they turned out, except next time I will buy adhesive backed fun foam which should make the task of adhering them to my layout a lot easier!

Tokyo Japan

Have you ever been somewhere where you didn't take any photos?  That is the case for this layout.  We had a quick layover on our way to Bangkok Thailand in Tokyo Japan but it was too short to actually go and explore anything.  I did however want to scrapbook that technically I had been in Tokyo, so while waiting for my connecting flight, I bought a couple of postcards to scrapbook.  They proved to be useful when it came time to do my layout.
