Our resort on Koh Samui was beautiful and every morning my husband would enjoy a coffee on the balcony enjoying the view.
On this layout I used a combination of Basic Grey's June Bug Collection and Fancy Pants Summer Soiree Collection.

One Week in Paradise
I love everything about this layout. The felt border, the tag I created using Tim Holtz' products, the paper, the pictures ... it all pulls together so nicely. It was one of layouts that wasn't planned at all, I just started throwing things on until I felt it was done. I love it when things work out that way.

Part of the Club
I recently received an email from Creating Keepsakes magazine telling me about a new club they had launched called CK Club. I looked around and decided I wanted to join. I think the cost was somewhere around $30 for a year's membership. In it you get access to all kinds of forums, blogs, contests, and galleries, as well as past issues of Creating Keepsakes. Another perk is you get their special eddition magazine called Tips and Tricks sent to you 4 times a year and a welcome package filled with goodies. I have yet to receive my package but hopefully it's got some cool stuff in it.
So on Friday night they had a contest called the 1-hour design challenge. I thought it would be fun to take part so when I got home I gathered everything up and waited for the challenge details to be posted. Basically they give you a sketch and you have 1 hour to complete it. Boy was it ever tough - I barely made it in time! The only drawback to the contest is the huge mess I made in my scrapbook room - it looked like a tornado had blown through! Unfortunately I did not win the prize pack but I really had a lot of fun doing and am thinking I might do this upcomming Friday's 1-hour design challenge too. If you are interested here's a picture of the layout I completed. Sorry about the poor photo quality but it was taken at night.

Floating Restaurant
Have you ever bought those packages of thicker letters to only find out you are out of certain letters almost right away? I love Thickers ... they are an addiction of mine but I really do wish they sold booster packs of popular letters but they don't so I am constantly doing titles only to find I am missing one or two letters. That is the case with this layout. But I had a brilliant idea. Thickers are made of chipboard and if you are careful you can peel apart the layers. So in this layout the A, E and T are actually the backs to other letters that I peeled off and then covered with Stickles. Isn't that an awesome idea! I love it! I have seen people mix sets of letters when they are missing some but in this case I wanted it to look consistant. Cool eh!?

Bangkok Airport
The Bangkok Airport was a really cool airport, all the walls and ceiling were made of glass and canvas ... obviously they don't get the bitter cold winters like we do!
The tags were all handmade using stamps and embossing powder. I find this is the easiest way to get tags and accents to match my layout exactly!
